Ronsiek Claims Second BIG EAST Freshman of the Week

Carda Collects Honor Roll Slot
New York, N.Y. -- Fresh off an upset win over #19 DePaul, the Creighton women's basketball squad collected a pair of individual awards as Emma Ronsiek was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week and Temi Carda collected a spot on the weekly Honor Roll. Announced on Monday, Feb. 22, this is Ronsiek's second weekly award of the season, both coming after matchups with DePaul.
Ronsiek scored a game-high 27 points off 9-of-12 shooting, including a 3-for-3 clip from three, while grabbing five boards as Creighton upset 19th-ranked DePaul on its home court on Saturday. The rookie was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line and added two assists and two blocks. In the 2-0 week for the Bluejays, Ronsiek finished as the BIG EAST's top freshman scorer with a 16.5 average. She shot .611 from the field, including .714 from three, as Creighton scored road wins at Georgetown and No. 19 DePaul.
Carda sparked Creighton to a 2-0 week, averaging 15.5 points, 6.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds in road wins at Georgetown and No. 19 DePaul. She was a perfect 11-of-11 from the charity stripe. Her week was highlighted by an 18-point, eight-assist, three-steal, three-rebound outing in the upset of the Blue Demons.
Creighton is back in action later tonight, facing Marquette at 6:00 pm on FS1.

Maddy Siegrist, Villanova, So., F
Siegrist claims her fourth weekly honor of the season and first since Jan. 11 after leading the BIG EAST in scoring while ranking second in rebounding in a 2-1 stretch for the Wildcats. The sophomore forward averaged 24.3 points and 11.0 rebounds, highlighted by a 31-point, 16-rebound showing at Georgetown on Sunday. Prior to that, she tallied 24 points and six boards against Butler, and 18 points, 11 rebounds at Marquette. The double-double on Sunday was her 10th of the season, one of just 20 players in Division I to have double-digit double-doubles on the year.

The senior eclipsed the 1,000-career point mark in Saturday's win over Providence, scoring a game-high 23 points and grabbing a game-best 12 rebounds in the process.

In a 2-1 week for the 19th-ranked Blue Demons, Held averaged 19.7 points, 4.7 steals, 4.3 assists and 3.0 rebounds. She tallied 17 points against both Seton Hall and Creighton, while registering a game-high 25 points against Xavier.

Lott tallied game highs of 22 points, 11 rebounds and six assists as the Golden Eagles scored the season sweep of Villanova with Wednesday's win over the visiting Wildcats.
Christyn Williams, Connecticut, Jr., G
In a 2-0 week for the top-ranked Huskies, Williams averaged 21.5 points off. 630 shooting, including a .556 clip from three, while adding 2.0 assists and 2.0 rebounds. She eclipsed the 20-point mark in both road wins, beginning with 21 points at St. John's and followed by 22 points at Xavier – both were game highs.
