Scouting Creighton (3-4-0, 3-2-0 BIG EAST)
Creighton split a pair of matches at home last week. The Bluejays recorded a 4-2 win over Butler on Wednesday before falling in overtime against Marquette, 2-1, on Saturday.
Creighton is currently tied for second in the BIG EAST Midwest Division with a .600 winning percentage (3-2-0).
Senior Diego Gutierrez leads the Bluejays and ranks fourth in the BIG EAST with 10 points from four goals and two assists. The Omaha native owns 14 career goals after posting 10 during three seasons at UNO.
In addition to Gutierrez, Daniel Espeleta and Callum Watson each have a pair of assists as Creighton owns 12 assists on 10 goals this season. Nine different players have at least one helper.
Bluejay freshman Nathan Schnur has started five matches in goal for the Bluejays. The Colorado native owns a 1.73 goals against average and has recorded 20 saves.
Junior goalkeeper Paul Kruse earned Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year accolades, but the Heilbronn, Germany native has been limited to only two matches this season because of injury.
Head coach Johnny Torres is in his second year at the helm of the Bluejays after spending 12 years as an assistant coach.
Scouting Xavier (3-5-1, 0-3-1 BE)
The Musketeers enter the week seeking their first win during the month of March, as Xavier is 0-3-1 during four leagues matches.
Wednesday will mark only the second home match of the season for the Musketeers.
Karsen Henderlong paces the BIG EAST with seven goals, but the sophomore has only found the back of the net once during league action.
Jerome Jolly leads the conference with six assists, while Xavier leads the league with 20 goals and 21 assists, but the Musketeers have been outscored 6-5 during league matches.
Matthew Rosenberg has started eight matches at goalie this season and owns a 1.53 goals against average with 17 saves and two shutouts.
Head coach Andy Fleming is in his 11th season at the helm of the Musketeers.
Series History Against Musketeers
Creighton leads the all-time series against Xavier, 6-3-1.
The Bluejays defeated the Musketeers 2-1 in Omaha on March 6.
Xavier recorded a 1-0 victory over Creighton during the 2019 season in Cincinnati. The Musketeers own a 2-1-1 mark against the Bluejays at home.
Last Time Out
Creighton fell 2-1 in overtime against No. 25 Marquette on Saturday afternoon at Morrison Stadium.
The Bluejays dropped to 3-2-0 in league action and 3-4-0 overall, while the Golden Eagles improved to 3-1-1 during BIG EAST play and 6-1-1 overall.
Jake Ronneberg scored Creighton's lone goal of the match during the 48th minute. Callum Watson recovered a deflected ball along the left-side of the 18-yard box and found Ronneberg just outside the top of the box.
The Illinois native took a pair of dribbles into the box before sending the ball inside the far post to tie the match at 1-1. The goal marked Ronneberg's second of the year, both coming against Marquette.
Creighton played a man down for the final 86 minutes of action after a red card during the eighth minute.
Marquette found the back of the net just five minutes after gaining the man advantage as Beto Soto scored during the 13th minute.
Bluejay goalkeeper Nathan Schnur made a pair of first half saves to keep the Bluejays down just a single goal at halftime.
Creighton found the equalizer from Ronneberg on its first shot attempt after the break, just a little over two minutes into the second half.
Neither team found a game-winner in regulation before Marquette scored the golden goal during the 94th minute.
The Golden Eagles ended the day with an 11-9 edge in shots and 5-3 advantage in corner kicks, while both teams recorded four shots on goal.

Bluejays Fighting For Postseason Spot
Creighton enters the week with a 3-2-0 mark in league action, and the Bluejays are second in the Midwest Division with a .600 winning percentage.
For the spring of 2021, the BIG EAST is split into two divisions. Each team plays home-and-home against the opposing divisional foes. The five Midwest Division teams are slated to play eight league games, while the six East Division teams are scheduled to play 10.
The top two teams in each division with the best winning percentages will qualify for the BIG EAST Championship, which will be hosted by the team with the best winning percentage across the entire league.
Creighton's remaining league schedule consists of a road match against Xavier (Wednesday) and home match against DePaul (April 3) before the regular-season finale at Butler (April 10).
