Baseball Posts Third Straight Shutout Win, 5-0 Over San Jose State

Omaha, Neb. -- Senior Dax Roper and freshman Alan Roden launched home runs in the eighth inning to cement a 5-0 win for Creighton Baseball on Saturday, April 17.
The win moved the Bluejays to 10-7 on the season, while San Jose State fell to 3-6 overall.
The Bluejay offense got on the board in the bottom of the second as Roper laced a one-out triple to right-center, then sophomore Jared Wegner delivered an RBI single to left.
Creighton added a run in the sixth as Roden walked, senior Ryan Mantle was hit by a pitch. With Roper at the plate a wild pitch and a passed ball brought Roden around to score.
Still leading 2-0 in the eighth, Roden blasted a solo home run to left. Senior Ryan Mantle followed with a single up the middle, then Roper bashed a ball out to left center.
On the mound sophomore Dylan Tebrake earned his fourth win (4-0) of the season with 5.1 innings of scoreless ball. The tandem of sophomore Paul Bergstrom (2.1 innings) and senior John Sakowski (1.1 innings) kept the Spartans off the scoreboard the rest of the way.

Roper and Roden each finished with a pair of hits and scored twice to pace Creighton's offense.
Creighton and San Jose State continue their three-game series on Sunday, April 18 at 4:00 pm.
