Alan Roden Earns Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American Honors

Outfielder/DH becomes 14th Freshman All-American in Program History
Omaha, Neb. -- Creighton's Alan Roden added to his list on accolades on Wednesday, June 9 as the Wisconsin native was named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball.
The BIG EAST Freshman of the Year, Roden closed the 2021 season hitting .378 in 39 games. Roden held the top spot in the NCAA for RBI per game throughout much of the season, finishing the year with 47 RBI in 39 games (currently 27th). He also is ranked nationally (top-100) in batting average (52nd), doubles (63rd with 17), hits per game (95th at 1.38), on-base percentage (56th at .476), runs per game (100th at 1.00) and slugging percentage (34th at .685).
Roden led Creighton with nine home runs, 17 doubles, 54 hits, 39 runs scored, 98 total bases, a .685 slugging percentage, a .476 on-base percentage.
Coached by Ed Servais, Creighton finished the 2021 season with a 24-15 record. Roden is the sixth Bluejay to earn Freshman All-American honors since Servais became head coach in 2004, joining Casey Schmidt (2007), Mike Gerber (2011), Tommy Strunc (2013), Rollie Lacy (2015) and Will Robertson (2017). Other Freshmen All-Americans at Creighton include Alan Benes (1991), Chad Meyers (1994), Drue Councill (1995), Brian Smith (1996), Scott Yahraus (1999), Steve Grasley (2001), Tony Roth (2002) and Matt Buckingham (2002).
