Bluejays Settle for 1-1 Draw at Seton Hall

South Orange, N.J. -- Holding a 1-0 lead with under 30 seconds remaining, the Creighton Men's Soccer team saw a questionable penalty called that gave Seton Hall a PK. The result was a 1-1 draw on Saturday, October 15.
Following Saturday's result the Bluejays moved to 4-3-5 on the season and 1-2-3 in BIG EAST action, while Seton Hall moved to 6-1-6 overall and 3-0-4 in conference play.
A scoreless opening half came to a close with a near miss for the Bluejays as senior Charles Auguste lofted a ball towards the net, glancing off the cross bar.
Creighton scored first, pushing the ball into the net in the 74th minute (73:34) as Alfie Pope redirected a pass from Diego Dutilh and Miguel Ventura into the net. It was Pope's third goal of the season, while Ventura grabbed his fourth assist and Dutilh collected his first.
With just 25 seconds remaining in the match, Seton Hall was granted a penalty kick as Ventura was whistled for a penalty in the box. Pirate Quenzi Huerman converted the opportunity to knot the match at 1-1.
Creighton closed the match with 12 shots and two corners, while Seton Hall finished with 13 shots and 10 corners.
The Bluejays were cited for six yellow cards in the contest, while the Pirates received just two.
Creighton returns home to face Butler on Wednesday, October 19 in a contest scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. at Morrison Stadium.
