Bluejay WBB Faces South Dakota State in Top-25 Matchup on Monday Night

Omaha, Neb. -- The 21st ranked Creighton Women's Basketball team opens the 2022-23 season with the lone Top-25 matchup in either men's or women's basketball on Monday, November 7 at 7:00 p.m.
Scouting South Dakota State
The Jackrabbits return a very strong front line, led by senior Myah Selland and Paiton Burckhard. Selland did not play against the Bluejays in Omaha last season. The duo combined for 30 points when Creighton and South Dakota State met in Brookings in 2020.

Bluejays Takeoff Checklist
The Bluejays are 20-28 in season openers entering the game at South Dakota State. Creighton is 12-36 in road opening contests. Under head coach Jim Flanery Creighton is 8-12 in the first game of the season, including 3-9 if the Bluejays open on the road.

- Rebounding: In Creighton's win over South Dakota State last season the Bluejays claimed the battle of the boards, 39-32. Two years ago in Brookings it was the Jackrabbits cleaning the glass, 42-20.
- Keeping the Jackrabbits off the Free Throw Line: South Dakota State went 17-of-23 from the charity stripe, while the Jackrabbits went 17-of-25 and 14-of-21 in the WNIT Semifinals and Finals last season.
- Battle of the Point Guards: Both South Dakota State and Creighton have new starting point guards for the 2022-23 season. The team that adjusts to the new distributer and gets into their respective offense will have a distinct advantage.
