Marshalltown, Iowa product will have three years of eligibility
OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton men's golf coach Judd Cornell has announced the addition of Cole Davis to the Bluejay men's golf program. Currently enrolled at Indian Hills Community College, Davis will have three years of eligibility at CU when he arrives in the fall.
Davis is in his first year at Indian Hills, where he competed in each of the first seven events of the season and owned a 73.33 scoring average in 18 rounds. He owned three top-seven finishes, including a tie for fourth at the Missouri Valley Conference Invitational when he fired rounds of 71-66-72 for a 7-under total of 209. Fifteen of his rounds were 76 or lower. The Warriors have qualified for the NJCAA National Championship, which takes place May 10-13 in Odessa, Texas.
Davis began his undergraduate studies at the University of Houston but did not compete for the Cougars in the 2020-21 academic year.
As a prep at Marshalltown High School, Davis was a three-time First Team All-State honoree. He set a school record with 10 rounds in the 60s during his career, was a member of the Honor Roll and received the Herman Sani Scholarship Award. He won the Central Iowa Metropolitan League Tournament as a senior after finishing sixth in state as a junior and second as a sophomore. That came after he finished second at state as a freshman, when he was also named Class 4A Player of the Year.
Guided by Cornell, Creighton finished fourth at the 2022 BIG EAST Championship presented by JEEP. CU's 292.17 scoring average was the best by a team in 20 years, and included a victory last October in Stampede at the Creek.
