Rowing Taking First Race at Tulsa, Battles Hurricane Fiercely

Tulsa, Okla. -- The Creighton Rowing squad got off to a strong start with a victory in the 2v4 against Tulsa on Saturday, April 30, but the Bluejays ultimately fell in a regatta against the Hurricane. Oklahoma was scheduled to compete in the regatta, but were not able to due to illness.
In the 2v4 race the Bluejays posted a time of 8:31.92 as the team of Claire Winter, Hallie Sanders, Erica Chronik, Lauren Miranda, Erica Svenby bested a pair of Tulsa boats by more than 20 seconds.
Fighting head winds of up to 13 miles per hour, the Bluejays dropped the next four races as Tulsa won the regatta.
The Bluejays will be back in action on May 14 in the WCC Championships in Sacramento, Calif.
