Rowing Bests Kansas in Varsity 8, Drops Regatta 2-1

Omaha, Neb. -- For the first time in school history the Creighton Rowing squad posted a victory over Kansas in the Varsity 8+, claiming the race from the Jayhawks on the Bluejays home course on Saturday, April 9.
The Bluejays claimed the top race with a time of 7:08.5, while Kansas finished 7:13.4.
Creighton dropped the regatta itself to Kansas, 2-1, falling by just over a second in the Varsity 4+. The Bluejays' boat finished with a time of 8:11.6, while Kansas came across in 8:10.4. Creighton also fell in the 2V8 as Kansas finished in 7:21.8, while the Bluejays faced some course challenges to post a time of 7:58.0.
"We raced hard today, delivering a great showing with a few bad breaks," said head coach Dan Chipps. "We are setting up for a great second half of the season."
The Bluejays return to action on Saturday, April 23 as Creighton hosts Kansas State at 9:00 am.
