OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton junior Kailey Wilson nab the final BIG EAST Softball Player of the Week honors, the league announced on Monday afternoon. Wilson, earned the honor for the second time in her career, is the third Bluejay this season to earn the BIG EAST Player of the Week honor, joining sophomore's Cayla Nielsen (March 8) and Emma Rosonke (March 28).
The Aurora, Colorado native hit .750 (6-for-8) with seven RBI, three home runs and two walks, while starting all three of Creighton's games against DePaul as the designated player this past weekend. Wilson led the Bluejays in Friday's series opener by going 2-for-2 with a walk and an RBI. She followed the opening game performance by hitting a pair of two-run home runs while driving in a career-high five RBI in Creighton's 11-6 win on Saturday, snapping the Bluejays 14-game losing streak. Wilson ended the weekend by going 1-for-3 with her third home run of the series.Â
Â
Wilson has started all 42 games this season as the designated player and led the Bluejays with a .436 batting average, the second highest single-season batting average in school history but the highest average since 1978. She also recorded the Bluejays second highest single-season on-base percentage and slugging percentage in school history with a .541 on-base percentage mark, as well as a .812 slugging percentage mark.Â

Wilson's .524 batting average in conference play is also the highest by a Bluejays since joining the BIG EAST, topping Sam Crowley's .523 league batting average in 2018.Â
Creighton ended the 2022 season with a 15-27 overall record, including an 5-17 mark in BIG EAST action.Â
