Bluejays Face Billikens and Aztecs on Labor Day Weekend
Omaha, Neb. -- The seventh-ranked Creighton Men's Soccer team takes on Saint Louis and San Diego State in a pair of matchups during Labor Day Weekend in Morrison Stadium.
Broadcast Teams
The online stream and radio call on 1290 AM for both matches (Saint Louis and San Diego State) features Josh Peterson and Connor Happer. The Spanish call offers Jose Raul Atencio and Juan Manuel Martinez on the call.

Creighton went from unranked in the preseason to No. 7 in the current United Soccer Coaches Association poll, while junior Duncan McGuire gathered in National Player of the Week honors from multiple organizations.
Offensively the Bluejays have seen just about everything work thus far with 12 goals in two matches. Creighton has distributed the goals amazingly evenly with four consecutive halves of three goals.
Defensively Creighton was able to split time in goal, allowing starter Paul Kruse to play just 133 minutes in the opening weekend.
Scouting Saint Louis (0-2-0)
Coming off a 16-1-4 season in 2021 the saw the Billikens reach the NCAA Quarterfinals last season. Â
The 2022 season, however, has not been as kind to Saint Louis. Starting the season ranked No. 10, the Billikens dropped a road match at Louisville (3-1) to open the season. Three days later Saint Louis was upset 2-1 by Lipscomb in its home opener (Aug. 28).
The battle with Lipscomb saw Saint Louis score first in the 11th minute, but Lipscomb quickly knotted the match with a goal in the 13th minute. The game-winning goal came in the 69th minute.
The largest difference from last season is the departure of goalkeeper Patrick Schulte, who played every second last season (1,997:57).
Scouting San Diego State (0-2-0)
Similar to Saint Louis, the Aztecs opened the season with consecutive losses, one on the road and one at home. San Diego State dropped back-to-back 2-1 decisions, falling at Cal State Northridge and at home to Loyola Marymount.
The Aztecs will battle Omaha on Friday, before coming to Morrison Stadium for the contest on Monday.
Last season San Diego State went 8-7-2, going 1-4-2 away from home. The Aztecs lost leading scorer Andrea Ochoa, but returned second leading scorer Blake Bowne (3 G, 6 P) and goalkeeper Jacob Castro (1,549 minutes in 2021).
Duncan McGuire Named National Player of the Week By United Soccer Coaches Association & TopDrawer Soccer
The awards for Creighton Men's Soccer's Duncan McGuire continue to roll in as the junior was named the National Player of the Week by the United Soccer Coaches Association on Wednesday, Aug. 31. McGuire collected National Player of the Week honors from TopDrawerSoccer.com on Tuesday and was part of College Soccer News' Team of the Week. In addition the Omaha native nabbed the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week award on Monday.
Men's Soccer Launched to No. 7 in United Soccer Coaches Association Poll
Powered by a pair of impressive victories to open the 2022 season, the Creighton Men's Soccer team skyrocketed to No. 7 in the United Soccer Coaches Association Poll on Tuesday, Aug. 30.
This marks the first time since Nov. 4, 2018 that the Bluejays have been in the poll and the highest Creighton has been since Oct. 11, 2016 when Creighton was ranked sixth.
Creighton opened the 2022 schedule with a 6-0 win over Oakland (Aug. 25), a squad that reached the 2021 NCAA Tournament. Three days later the Bluejays downed Rutgers 6-1. The only team that climbed higher than the Bluejays in the first week was Stanford. The Cardinal were also not ranked entering the 2022 season, but sit at No. 3 following victories over Villanova and SMU.
