Bluejay Men's Soccer Falls at Georgetown, 2-1

Washington, D.C. -- The Creighton Men's Soccer team dropped its BIG EAST road opener on Saturday, Sept. 24 as the Bluejays fell at Georgetown, 2-1.
The loss moved the Bluejays to 3-2-3 on the season and 0-1-1 in BIG EAST action, while Georgetown climbed to 2-4-2 overall and 1-1-0 in conference play.
The Hoyas took a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute of the opening half as Daniel Wu headed in a crossing pass by Jacob Murrell.
Early in the second half the Bluejays had a chance to pull even as senior Duncan McGuire earned a penalty kick in the 53rd minute. McGuire's attempt, however, was denied by Georgetown keeper Ryan Schewe.
Georgetown took advantage in the 68th minute as Jacob Murrell gave the Hoyas a 2-0 edge by collecting a cross deep in the eight-yard box from Kyle Linhares.
Moments later the Bluejays got back within a goal as sophomore Giorgio Probo put home a penalty kick in the 69th minute (68:37).
Creighton out shot Georgetown 27-21, led by six shots from Probo. Georgetown held the edge in corner kicks 11-4.
Creighton returns to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 1 as the Bluejays host conference leader Villanova at 6:30 p.m. in Morrison Stadium.
