Fast Start Propels Bluejay Women's Hoops to Convincing 75-34 Win Over Georgetown

Omaha, Neb. -- Playing with a little extra motivation during the annual Pink Game, the Creighton Women's Basketball team raced out to a 24-5 lead after ten minutes and coasted to a 75-34 win over Georgetown on Saturday, February 18.
The victory lifted Creighton to 19-7 on the season and 13-5 in BIG EAST play, while Georgetown dropped to 12-15 overall and 5-13 in conference action.
The Bluejays scored the first 10 points of the contest, getting contributions from juniors Molly Mogensen (Farmington, Minn.), Morgan Maly (Crete, Neb.) and five points from senior Rachael Saunders (Iowa City, Iowa). Maly closed the first quarter with eight points as Creighton led 15-2 when the Hoyas hit their first shot of the game.
By halftime Creighton's lead was 40-13 and the Bluejays did not let their foot off the gas. The Bluejays' largest lead of the afternoon came midway through the fourth quarter, a 44-point edge at 72-28.
Maly led all scorers with 16 points, while Bachelor and Ronsiek delivered 11 and 10 points respectively. Every Bluejay scratched the scoring column, while junior Mallory Brake (Hastings, Minn.) guided Creighton with 10 rebounds.
Georgetown got a game-high 14 points from Graceann Bennet in the loss.
Creighton returns to the hardwood for its final road game of the regular season on Wednesday, February 22 at Marquette. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. tip.
