Women’s Golf Finishes Ninth at Red Rocks Invitational

Eleanor Hudepohl is CU's top finisher
SEDONA, Ariz. – The Creighton women's golf team fired a final round 299 to finish in ninth place at the Red Rocks Invitational on Sunday, March 19, in Sedona, Arizona.
After a pair of 300 circuits on Saturday, CU's 299 in Sunday's final round was the Bluejays eighth sub-300 round of the season.
The Bluejays were led by Eleanor Hudepohl's tie for 11th place after the sophomore shot rounds of 73, 74 and 73 for a 220 total. It's her seventh straight tournament with a top-12 finish.
Sophomore Katherine Lemke tied for 29th place following identical loops of 75, 75 and 75. Her 225 total put her two shots ahead of senior teammate Katie Allen, who tied for 39th place after rounds of 75, 75 and 77.
Freshman Mia Gaboriau improved each round to finish in a tie for 44th place. After an opening-round of 77, the Dallas, Texas native followed with loops of 76 and 75 to finish with a 228 total.
Rounding out the Bluejay line-up was freshman Annika Yturralde. Yturralde tied for 53rd place with a pair of 77 circuits on Saturday, before a closing round of 76 on Sunday for a 230 total.
Northern Arizona's Ellena Slater (69-73-70=212) won the event by two strokes over Cal State Fullerton's Linley Ooi (71-73-70=214). Creighton finished ninth in the field of 20 teams with a 899 total, four shots better than former Missouri Valley rival Illinois State (10th – 903). Navy won the tournament by four shots over runner-up Grand Canyon with an 880 aggregate. The tournament was held at the Oakcreek Country Club, which measured 6,200 yards on its par 72 layout.
The Bluejays return to the course on April 10-11 with the Stampede at the Creek in Elkhorn, Neb.
