#24 Men's Basketball Returns to AP Top 25

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's basketball team is ranked in this week's Associated Press Top 25 poll for the fourth time in the last five weeks and ninth time overall this season as the Bluejays were voted 24th today.

Creighton returned to the poll after double-digit victories last week over Georgetown (99-59) and DePaul (84-70) to tie a single-season program record with 14 BIG EAST wins as well as securing its eighth straight 20-win season. Saturday's win in Chicago also clinched the team's 23rd different season of 20 or more wins in the past 25 seasons, joining Duke, Gonzaga, Kansas and Kentucky in that elite group.

Including today's ranking, Creighton (20-11, 14-6 BIG EAST) has now been ranked 122 times in program history, with 94 of those weeks coming under the direction of Greg McDermott. Creighton is 151-62 all-time as a ranked team, including a 117-50 mark under McDermott. Creighton has been ranked at least one week in nine of McDermott's 13 seasons on The Hilltop after doing it just five different seasons in program history before his 2010 arrival. Creighton's best AP ranking ever is seventh, done five times (Jan. 16, 2017, March 9, 2020, March 16, 2020, Jan. 4, 2021 and Nov. 28, 2022).

The Bluejays are 14th in the NCAA's NET rankings with less than a week to go until the NCAA Tournament field is announced. Creighton is also 22nd in the USA Today Coaches poll.

Creighton returns to the court on Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. Central in quarterfinal round play of the BIG EAST Tournament Presented by JEEP. CU will face the winner of Wednesday night's Villanova/Georgetown First Round match-up.
