#65 Men’s Tennis Extends Winning Streak With Sweep Of Stonehill

The Bluejays are 1-0 as a ranked team
ORLANDO, Fla. – The No. 65 ranked Creighton men's tennis team remained unbeaten in Florida with a 7-0 sweep of Stonehill on Tuesday afternoon, pushing its win streak to eight straight matches.
The Bluejays moved their season record to 8-3 and improved to 2-0 this week during the team's Spring Break trip to Florida.
Creighton started Tuesday's action with doubles wins at the top two positions to earn the first point of the match. Alejandro Gandini and Yuma Daijima paired up for a 6-2 win at the No. 2 doubles spot before Oscar Alvarez and Zachary Kuo teamed up for an identical 6-2 win at the No. 1 doubles position.
The Bluejays went on to win all six singles matches in straight-sets to secure their second sweep in as many days. Kuo quickly earned a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 5 singles position while freshman Kirtan Patel did not drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 triumph on the No. 4 singles court. Graduate Casey Ross followed with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 2 singles slot to clinch the overall dual for the Bluejays.
Creighton closed out the match with a 6-1, 6-2 win on the No. 6 singles court by Ricky Rubio, while junior Matthew Lanahan claimed his eighth straight singles win with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at the top singles position. Shin Inoue wrapped up the day by capturing a 6-4, 6-0 win on the No. 3 court.
The Bluejays will rest the next two days, before wrapping up their stay in Florida with a match against IUPUI on Friday at 11 a.m. Central.
