Creighton is 21-19 all-time against the Cowboys
OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's basketball team will play Oklahoma State on Thursday, Nov. 30 in the BIG EAST - Big 12 Battle. The game will take place at historic Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater, Okla.
The Battle matchups are jointly determined by the two conferences, with the home team choosing the venue of its game. Broadcast arrangements for the contests will be determined by the national television rights holder of the home team, which is ESPN for the Big 12 and FOX Sports for the BIG EAST.Â
The 2023-24 season will mark the fifth year of the agreement between the two conferences, as the leagues agreed to a two-year extension months before last season's original four-year contract expired. With each conference adding member schools since the start of the original agreement, the Battle will increase from 10 to 11 matchups for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons. The Big 12 will host six games in 2023-24 while the BIG EAST will host six the following season.
Creighton is 1-3 all-time in the BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle. The Bluejays defeated Oklahoma (83-73) in Omaha in 2019 before falling to No. 5 Kansas (73-72) in Lawrence in 2020, No. 18 Iowa State (65-58) in Omaha in 2021 and at No. 2 Texas (72-67) last season.
The Cowboys are also 1-3 in the event, losing to Georgetown (81-74) in 2019, winning at Marquette (70-62) in 2020, losing to Xavier (77-71) in 2021 and losing at No. 18 Connecticut (74-64) last December.
The BIG EAST has won 21-of-36 games in the conference challenge series over the previous four campaigns, though the leagues have split 10 contests each of the past two seasons and six games in 2020-21.
Creighton finished the 2022-23 season with a 24-13 record, advancing to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament. The Bluejays are scheduled to return all five starters to the court in 2023-24 for head coach Greg McDermott.
Oklahoma State went 20-15 in 2022-23, reaching the quarterfinals of the NIT before losing an overtime game against eventual champion North Texas. Head coach Mike Boynton's staff includes former Bluejay assistant coach Terrence Rencher.
Creighton is 21-19 all-time against the Cowboys, though the programs have not met since the Bluejays defeated then-No. 18 Oklahoma State 66-60 on Dec. 20, 1998.
Game times and television networks will be announced when available.
