Men’s Tennis Concludes Oklahoma Road Trip With 6-1 Setback Against #59 Tulsa
4/8/2023 8:37:00 PM | Men's Tennis
TULSA, Okla. – Facing nationally-ranked competition, the Creighton men's tennis team fell 6-1 to No. 59 Tulsa on Saturday night at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Oklahoma.
The loss drops the Bluejays to 12-5 on the year, while the Golden Hurricane improved to 10-11 overall with the win.
Tulsa earned victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles positions to secure the first point of the match.
The Golden Hurricane wrapped up the overall dual win with victories at the top five singles positions to earn the 6-1 triumph.
Zachary Kuo earned Creighton's lone point of the night with a straight-sets win at the No. 6 singles position. The freshman claimed a 6-2 win in set one before capturing a 7-5 win in set two.
"Tulsa is a very good team and we got off to a slow start," said head coach Tom Lilly. "I liked how we made it competitive in singles at most spots after a three-and-a-half-hour emotional win this morning."
Creighton returns to action on Friday, April 14, when the Bluejays travel to take on McPherson in Kansas.
