Baseball Surrenders Early Lead in 4-2 Loss at Seton Hall

South Orange, N.J. -- Despite taking a 2-0 lead in the second, Creighton Baseball fell to Seton Hall 4-2 on Saturday, May 13.
The loss was the Bluejays' sixth consecutive defeat, falling to 23-21 on the season and 9-8 in BIG EAST action. Seton Hall climbed to 27-22 on the season and 9-8 in conference play.
The Bluejays took a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the second. Consecutive one-out hits from senior Jack Grace and sophomore Hogan Helligso set the stage for Creighton. Grad transfer Ben Gbur delivered an RBI ground out, while an error allowed Helligso to make it 2-0.
Creighton starter Ryan Windham took the lead into the fourth, retiring the first nine hitters he faced. The Pirates opened the fourth with four consecutive hits to surge out to a 3-2 lead. Windham limited the Pirates to two hits in his six innings of work, but took the loss (5-3).
Seton Hall tacked on a run in the eighth as starter Daniel Frontella picked up the win (2-1), allowing two runs (one earned) in five innings. Pirate reliever Ryan Reich worked a scoreless ninth for his first save of the season.
Helligso led the Creighton offense with two of the Bluejays' six hits in the game.
