OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton women's soccer freshman Anna Bragg (Omaha, Neb.) earned some well-deserved recognition on Monday, Oct. 28 as the Bluejay forward was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.
Bragg guided the Bluejays to a 1-0-1 record this past week, notching two points on a pair assists, including a helper on the game-winning goal in the Bluejays' 2-1 win at Seton Hall on Thursday, Oct. 24. The talented rookie then connected with sophomore Mallory Connealy in the 45th minute on Sunday against Butler after sparking a counterattack by stealing a ball from a Bulldog attacker in the midfield and sending a pass over the top to Connealy, who hammer home her first goal of the season to give Creighton the lead at the break, 1-0.
With assists in each of the Bluejays two contests this past week, Bragg becomes the second Bluejay freshman in the past two years to score at least one point in three consecutive matches. Overall, the Omaha native ranks fourth on the team with six points, with two goals and two assists all coming during BIG EAST play.
Bragg and the rest of the Bluejays return to the pitch on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. CT when they close out the regular season with a match at St. John's in Queens, N.Y.
BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Talia Sommer, Butler, Jr., M
