LINCOLN, Neb. – The Creighton softball team dropped a 9-0 decision to Nebraska on Saturday afternoon at Bowlin Stadium in Lincoln, Neb.
The loss drops the Bluejays to 16-10 on the year, while the Cornhuskers improved to 15-12 with the win.
After a scoreless frame, leaving a pair of runners on base in the top of the first inning, Nebraska opened the scoring with two runs in the bottom half of the frame to jump out to an early 2-0 lead. Following a five-pitch walk by Brooke Andrews, the Cornhuskers placed their first run on the scoreboard with an RBI triple to right by Ava Bredwell. Nebraska added to its lead in the bottom of the second as Katelyn Caneda blooped a two-out single into right, before Billie Andrews blasted her team-leading 10th home run of the season to give the Cornhuskers a 4-0 lead.
The Cornhuskers continued to pour it on, plating two additional runs in bottom of the third on a leadoff homer from Sydney Grey and an RBI single to left center from Bella Bacon to extend the Huskers lead to 6-0.
Nebraska then tacked on three more runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth inning to secure the 9-0 victory.
