
Softball Honors 14 NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes

OMAHA, Neb. – The Creighton softball team had 14 players honored as 2023-24 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes, as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Tuesday, Aug. 6.
The 14 Bluejays to earn the prestigious honor included: Elly Beeson, Aiyana Curry, Ella Dalton, Lynn Davis, Ensley Frame, Alyssa Gappa, Jena Lawrence, Cayla Nielsen, Brooklyn Patchen, Emma Rosonke, Kenzie Schopfer, Sydra Seville, Elliot Smith and Madeline Vejvoda.
Student-athletes who achieve a 3.5 or better GPA on a 4.0 scale are eligible for the individual honor. The rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association's membership categories. Overall, 8,054 student-athletes (NCAA DI, DII, DIII, NAIA and JUCO) garnered Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2023-24 academic year.
Lawrence, Nielsen, Rosonke, Schopfer and Vejvoda each earned a perfect 4.0 GPA during the 2024 spring semester, while Lawrence and Vejvoda each earned 4.0 GPAs in both semesters. Lawrence, Nielsen, Rosonke and Vejvoda all claimed their third straight Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete award, while Beeson, Dalton, Gappa and Seville each earned their second consecutive honor. In addition, Davis, Frame, Patchen and Schopfer earned their first Scholar-Athlete acclaim while at Creighton.
Creighton's 14 Easton/NFCA Scholar-Athletes ranked tied for the third-most in the BIG EAST as Butler led the way with 17 honorees. Seton Hall followed with 16, while DePaul had 14 individuals receive honors.
The 2023-24 Bluejay softball team also earned a team award from the NFCA after accumulating a 3.35 GPA for the academic year.
