Bluejays tie for 11th place
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- The Creighton men's golf team tied for 12th place in its final tournament of the fall, the Florida Atlantic Invitational.
The decision to shorten the event to 36 holes on Monday evening after darkness prevented teams from completing 36 holes on Monday in advance of Tuesday's planned final 18 holes. With many players having about 4-5 holes left to complete the second round, tournament administrators elected to reduce the length of the event.
Senior Grant Feldman led Creighton for the fifth time in as many fall events, tying for 14th place after a 2-under 142 total. He shot rounds of 70 and 72 and was hanging around the top-five before closing with a double-bogey.
Junior Brock Kuhlman tied for 49th place after loops of 75 and 73 for a 148 total. He finished three shots better than sophomore teammates Jacob Kutner (76-75=151) and Gavin Gerch (80-71=151), who each tied for 65th place.
Rounding out the Bluejay lineup was sophomore Radley Mauney, who tied for 80th place after following up his opening-round 74 with an 81.
Creighton tied for 12th in the team standings with scores of 295 and 291 for a 586 total. Tarleton State won the 16-team event with scores of 276 and 282 for a 18-under total of 558, which was eight shots better than USF (281-285=566).
Medalist honors went to North Alabama's Andrew Ferworn (69-67=136), who topped the 88-man field by one shot over Samford's Gavin Isbell (67-70=137). The tournament was held on the Par 72 Panther National course that measured 7,465 yards.
The Bluejays will return to the course in the spring, starting with The Savannah Intercollegiate on Feb. 21-22.
