The loss moved the Bluejays to 11-16 on the season, while the Tommies climbed to 17-10 with the win.
Bluejay starter Brooklyn Patchen took the loss (4-6), allowing four runs on five hits and six walks in 3.0 innings of work, while St. Thomas' Ella Cook earned the win (5-6), tossing 2.0 scoreless innings of relief with Christina Crawford earning her first save of the season.
St. Thomas struck first in the top of the first inning as Abbi Stierlen drew a four-pitch bases loaded walk to give the Tommies a 1-0 lead.
Creighton would answer in the bottom half of the first using a leadoff bunt single from senior Sydra Seville, a walk to junior Ella Dalton and a sacrifice bunt from Lily West to place runners on second and third. Sophomore Sydney Potter would then deliver a two-run single up the middle to give the Bluejays a 2-1 lead.
The Tommies countered with an RBI single from Laken Lienhard in the top of the second to level the contest at 2-2.
St. Thomas would then take control of the game, plating three runs on an RBI double from Cassiby Cardy and a two-run single from Cook to grab a 5-2 lead.
A solo home run in the top of the fifth and a bases loaded walk in the sixth from Grace Nosan pushed the Tommies advantage out to 7-2 before a wild pitch and another bases loaded walk from Crawford in the seventh extended the lead out to 9-2.
Creighton would string together three hits in the seventh, including an RBI single to center from sophomore Kaelan Schultz and an RBI triple off the right field wall from graduate transfer Hannah Poole to cut the deficit to 9-4.
Seville, Poole and Pierson combined for six of the Bluejays 10 hits, while Potter drove in a team-high four runs in the setback.
Carby went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles for St. Thomas, while Kaitlyn Raymond added in a pair of hits as the Tommies recorded 11 hits and 11 walks in the contest.
Creighton returns to BIG EAST play this weekend when they host Connecticut for a three-game series, beginning on Friday, March 28 at 4 p.m. at the Creighton Sports Complex.
