Cancellieri, Magers and Coaching Staff Highlight Seven Bluejays Honored on All-BIG EAST Team

Bluejays Claim Pitcher Freshman and Coaching Staff of the Year
Omaha, Neb. -- Creighton Baseball took three of the four major awards and placed six players on the All-BIG EAST Teams when the honors were announced on Tuesday, May 20.
Dominic Cancellieri earned BIG EAST Pitcher of the Year, Wilson Magers claimed Freshman of the Year, while Creighton was named Coaching Staff of the Year.
Cancellieri and Magers were joined by closer Garrett Langrell on the All-BIG EAST First Team, while sophomore catcher Connor Capece, senior outfielder Nolan Sailors and senior third baseman Matt Scherrman earned All-BIG EAST Second Team honors.
Servais earned his sixth coach or coaching staff of the year honor as Creighton claimed a share of the BIG EAST Regular Season Championship and the overall No. 1 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament. After missing the BIG EAST Tournament in each of the last two seasons, the Bluejays were picked to finish fourth in the preseason coaches poll. In his final season at the helm for Creighton, Servais earned coach or coaching staff of the year in 2005, 2007, 2011, 2014, 2019 and 2025.
Cancellieri closed the season as the ERA leader in BIG EAST games at 2.06 over 35.0 innings. His numbers are even better when looking at the season as a whole. In 47.0 innings, Cancellieri has a 1.72 ERA with 52 strikeouts and 16 walks.
Magers was nearly as impressive on the bump, posting a 6-2 record with a 3.09 ERA in a team-best 67.0 innings this season. In seven BIG EAST contests, Magers went 3-0 with a 2.29 ERA.
Langrell went 3-0 with four saves in eight BIG EAST appearances, posting a 1.93 ERA in 18.2 innings with 22 strikeouts and just one walk. During the season Langrell has a 6-1 record with 11 saves and a 2.32 ERA in 42.2 innings. During the season, Langrell has notched 47 strikeouts and just five walks.
Creighton's top two hitters, Capece and Sailors were joined on the Scherrman on the All-BIG EAST Second Team. Sailors leads the Bluejays with a .396 average this season and a team-high 15 doubles. Sailors is hitting .372 in 21 BIG EAST games. Capece has been at his best in BIG EAST action, hitting .413 with nine extra-base hits in 21 games, while hitting .352 over 43 contests. Scherrman brings a .295 average in 46 contests into the BIG EAST Tournament. Over 21 BIG EAST games, Scherrman is hitting .312 with 25 RBI.
The Bluejays open play at the BIG EAST Tournament on Wednesday, May 21 against St. John's at 1:30 p.m. on the BIG EAST Digital Network and broadcast online via FloBaseball.tv.
