OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton softball added its third transfer of the summer on Tuesday with the addition of former North Texas pitcher Gracie Maloney.
Maloney, a Macomb, Mich. native, arrives in Omaha with three years of eligibility remaining after spending the 2025 season at North Texas. While with the Mean Green, Maloney appeared in seven games, logging a 5.12 ERA in 13.2 inning of work while helping guide UNT to a runner-up finish in the American Athletic Conference.
Prior to her time at North Texas, Maloney was a four-year letter winner at Dakota High School, where she was ranked as the No. 30 overall and the No. 9 two-way player in the Class of 2024 by Extra Innings Softball. A three-time all-district and all-region selection as a pitcher and shortstop, Maloney guided the Cougars to a runner-up finish at the state tournament, while posting a 1.60 ERA with 101 strikeouts in 56.2 innings of work and a .343 batting average with six doubles, six home runs and 36 RBI as a sophomore.
Maloney also garnered first team all-state honors after recording a 0.57 ERA with a school record 344 strikeouts in 171 innings, while hitting at a .324 clip with nine doubles, four homers and 33 RBI as a senior. Over the course of her standout prep career, Maloney led Dakota HS to four consecutive Macomb Area Conference Red Titles, while establishing a new program record with 665 career strikeouts and eight career no-hitters in 343.2 innings of work.
In addition, Maloney played club softball for Turnin2 Softball under the direction of her father and head coach Shawn Maloney. While with Turnin2, Maloney became one of only four non-power four commits to play in the Alliance All-Star Game, along with Florida Atlantic utility player Destiny Johns. In the classroom, Maloney was named to the Macomb Area Conference All-Academic Team all four years.
