
Five Members of Bluejay Baseball Earn Academic All-District Honors

Omaha, Neb. -- Creighton Baseball was represented by five players (Jimmy Burke, Dominic Cancellieri, Teddy Deters, Kyle Hess and Noah Klein) represented the Bluejays on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, announced on Tuesday, June 3.
The 2025 Academic All-District® Baseball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced July 1, 2025.
The Bluejays five honorees are the most ever by the Creighton baseball team in a single season, while Cancellieri advanced in voting and will be listed on the CSC Academic All-America® Ballot.
Burke earned his first CSC Academic All-District® honor, the right handed pitcher from Illinois delivered a 5-1 record over 22 appearances, including four starts. He tossed 49.2 innings this season with a 4.35 ERA, recording 38 strikeouts and walking 12. Off the diamond Burke posted a 3.66 GPA, majoring in Computer Science
Cancelllieri earned his Bachelor's Degree in Finance with a cumulative GPA of 3.88 and has a 3.97 GPA during his pursuit of an MBA. The BIG EAST Pitcher of the Year, Dominic was equally impressive on the diamond, closing the season with a 2.29 ERA over 55 innings. The New Jersey native appeared in 13 games, notching 59 strikeouts and holding the opposition to a .228 batting average.
Deters was dynamic for the Bluejays in the four games during the NCAA Tournament, going 7-13 (.538) with five runs scored. Throughout the season he had a .240 average with 50 hits in 56 games, including 55 starts. He delivered 13 extra-base hits, with six doubles. In the classroom Teddy posted a 3.64 GPA, majoring in Finance.
The second New Jersey native (joining Cancelllieri), Hess posted a 3.97 as he completed his MBA and delivered a 3.87 GPA as he completed his coursework for a Bachelor's in Financial Services. Creighton's starting second baseman hit .271 with three walkoff hits, including a single to lift Creighton into the regional final on June 1. Hess closed teh season with 39 hits in 52 games, delivering 27 RBI.Â
Appearing in 20 games this season, Klein closed the 2025 campaign with a 2.88 ERA over 25.0 innings. He limited opponents to a .245 batting average with 19 strikeouts. In the classroom Noah posted a 3.68 GPA, majoring in finance.

Creighton finished the 2025 season with a 43-16 overall record, reaching the regional finals against Arkansas on Sunday, June 1.

Academic Standing:
- Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
- Student-athletes must be enrolled at their institution at the time of nomination either as undergraduates or graduate students. Only the school at which an athlete competed in the current academic year can nominate that player.
- Student-athletes who have graduated from their own institution during the current academic year and are not competing in athletics at another institution at the time of nomination are eligible.
- An undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).
- A graduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as both an undergraduate and a grad student unless they are in their first semester as a graduate student and don't have an established graduate GPA.
- The cumulative grade point average may not be rounded up to 3.50.

- BASEBALL - Eligible nominees must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played OR must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances OR pitched 35 innings.
