BIG EAST Freshman of the Year lands more accolades
Magers is one of 34 standout freshmen college baseball players that were honored, which features players from 32 different schools and 15 different conferences. The two All-America teams are also made up of 10 conference "Rookie of the Year" winners. In addition, 20 all-conference honorees appear on the team. The teams also include one conference "Pitcher of the Year" and one conference "Relief Pitcher of the Year."
Today's honor is the latest for Magers following a standout freshman campaign. The Mankato, Minn., native was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Year, First Team All-BIG EAST  and BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 17th during his rookie campaign. The right-hander went 6-3 and had one save on the bump for the Bluejays in 16 appearances (14 starts). He finished with a 3.47 ERA in 72.2 innings of work, striking out 55 batters. He led the BIG EAST in ERA (3.47), which ranked eighth-best nationally among freshmen in that category. He also finished second in the BIG EAST in opponents batting average (.217) and tied for fifth in innings pitched (72.2).
Magers is the 15th Bluejay in program history to earn Freshman All-America honors, and first since Alan Roden landed the honor from Collegiate Baseball in 2021.
The Freshman All-America team is voted upon by the membership of the NCBWA. The 2025 NCBWA National Freshman Player of the Year and National Freshman Pitcher of the Year will be announced on Tuesday, June 10.
