Creighton Hosts Denver in 13th Annual Socctoberfest

Omaha, Neb. -- Creighton Men's Soccer hosts the 13th Annual Socctoberfest as both the Men's and Women's programs play a doubleheader on Friday, September 5th. The women's team hosts #13 Arkansas at 5:00 p.m,, while the men's squad faces Denver in a scheduled 7:45 p.m. start.

Socctoberfest History
Friday's match with Denver marks Creighton's 13th Annual Socctoberfest event.
Open to all Creighton fans with a cost of $35 per person, the event includes live music by the Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, a commemorative 20-ounce Creighton Socctoberfest glass stein, a 20-ounce stein fill, a meal ticket, a new beer sampling punch card to use at various vendors, and a complimentary general admission ticket good for both the women's and men's soccer matches. Additional 20-ounce refills and meal tickets will also be available for purchase.

General admission tickets for anyone under 21 will also be available and a kids meal can be purchased at the event! Face painters, balloon artists, blow up bounce houses and a mini soccer field will be available for entertainment. Fans can also expect appearances from the Creighton Dance Team and MLS representatives from Sporting KC!
Creighton has averaged a crowd of 4,178 during the 12 seasons of Socctoberfest, drawing a total of 50,139 fans to the event. The Bluejays are an impressive 9-2-1 during Socctoberfest matches, falling to No. 1 Georgetown in 2021 and to No. 3 Denver last season.Â

Scouting Denver (2-2-0)
Off to a uncharacteristically sluggish start, the Pioneers are 2-2-0 on the season and 0-1-0 away from home. Denver's offense has been both strong and diverse, with seven different players notching one goal in the first four contests. The Pioneers have scored in each match, notching a pair of goals in three of the four.
Holger Olsson and Ian Welch guide the Denver attack with four points each, coming via one goal and two assists. The Pioneers have nine assists on seven goals.
Defensively Denver opened the season with a shutout against Washington, but hasÂ
conceded six goals over the last three matches. Isaac Nehme has logged all 360 minutes in goal this season for Denver, posting a 1.50 Goals Against Average.
Scouting Creighton (0-2-2)
Still looking for its first victory of the season, Creighton opened its home schedule with a 0-0 draw versus Tulsa on September 1. The Bluejays' defense delivered its best match of the season, limiting the Golden Hurricane to 10 shots and just four in the second half.
Offensively both of Creighton's goals this season have come from Miguel Arilla, delivering a penalty kick versus Michigan and a goal at FIU.Â
In net Matthew Hudson has played all 360 minutes thus far, allowing seven goals for a 1.75 GAA.
Freshmen Contributing Early
Freshmen Todd Vromant and Matthew Hudson are making immediate impacts for the Bluejays. Hudson stepped into goal from the opening contest and delivered him first clean sheet against Tulsa on September 1st. Vromant, meanwhile, provided the Bluejays' first assist of the season in Creighton's 1-1 draw at FIU on September 24th.
Slow Starts are a Rarity for Bluejays
The 0-2-2 start marks just the third time in program history the Bluejays have reached the fifth match of the season in search of the first victory of the season. The previous two times were in 2023 and 1984. During the 2023 season the Bluejays started 0-2-2, defeating Michigan 3-1 on September 8. The 1984 campaign began started 0-4-1, before Creighton bested Wisconsin 1-0 on September 16.Â
