Track Picks Up Two Titles at The Graduate Classic

LINCOLN, Neb. --Â Titles by Jake Ziebarth and Noah Jodon highlighted 34 performers who competed for Creighton Track on Friday and Saturday at The Graduate Classic in Lincoln.
Jodon won the 3,000 meter race in 8:25.25, the second-fastest time in program history, to top a field of 33 competitors. Jodon was one of five Bluejays in the event, which also saw Lucas Bossinger take 10th in 8:44.66.
Ziebarth won the 1,000 meters in 2:26.43, shaving more than two seconds off his school-record time in the event. Also finishing in the top 10 were Bluejay teammates Evan Kraus (6th in 2:29.48) and Oliver Annus (8th in 2:31.20).
The Bluejays were led in the 600 by Rhys Cushman, who placed 14th in 1:22.41. That was just ahead of teammates Michael Bianco (1:22.86) and Matthew Lindgren (1:23.44), who placed 16th and 18th, respectively.
Carly Manchester had the best finish of any Creighton woman, taking third in the 1,000 meters with a school-record finish in 2:57.17. Two spots back in fifth place was Reyna Heisserer (2:59.45).
Anika Nettekoven (1:35.23), Quinn Hays (1:37.35) and Alexis Huddin (1:37.79) each turned in top 10 finishes in the 600 meters. Nettekoven was fourth, Hays eighth and Huddin 10th of 20 entrants in the event.
Leading the Bluejay women in the 3,000 meters was Katherine Soule (10:18.15) and Kaylee Tobaben (10:19.05), who took 12th and 13th place, respectively.
The Bluejays are back on the track with a return to Lincoln next Friday for the Prairie Wolf Invite, which will be hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan.
