Keegan Mayhue Named Second Team Freshman All-American by D1Softball

Mayhue becomes just second Bluejay freshman to earn All-American honors.
OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton's Keegan Mayhue added to her list of accolades on Thursday, May 28 as the Texas native was named a Second Team Freshman All-American by D1Softball.
Mayhue is the first Bluejay to earn D1Softball Freshman All-American honors and joins Tara Oltman (2007) as the only freshmen in Creighton Softball history to earn All-American accolades.
Mayhue is one of 36 standout freshmen college softball players that were honored on Thursday by D1Softball, which features players from 31 different schools and 13 different conferences. The two All-America teams are also made up of 12 conference "Rookie of the Year" winners. In addition, 30 of the 36 All-Americans earned all-conference honors.
Today's honor is the latest for Mayhue following a spectacular rookie campaign. The Elm Mott, Texas native garnered the Bluejays first BIG EAST Freshman of the Year award, earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week twice and claimed a spot on the BIG EAST All-Tournament team after guiding the Bluejays to its third consecutive runner-up finish and its third straight 30-win season.
The freshman slugger hit .336 this season with 11 doubles, a team-high 13 home runs, 53 RBI and 26 runs scored. Her 13 homers were the second-most by a Bluejay freshman in program history and tied for the 10th-most in a single season in school history. In addition, Mayhue's 53 RBI set a new freshman record and were the fourth-most by a Bluejays in a single season in program history.
Overall, Mayhue is the 18th Bluejay in program history to earn All-American honors, and the first since Sam Crowley landed First Team College Sports Communicators Academic All-American honors in 2018.
