Women's Golf Opens Fall Season at Yellowstone Intercollegiate

BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Julia Karmazin led the Creighton Women's Golf team to an 11th-place finish on Tuesday as the Bluejays opened their fall season at the Yellowstone Intercollegiate in Bozeman, Mont.
Karmazin shook off a first round 84 to shoot CU's two best rounds of the tournament, a second round 74 and an even par 72 in the third round. That was good for the junior to finish in a tie for 33rd place.
Annie Dawson led CU after 36 holes and tied for 50th place with rounds of 75-80-82=237 in her first competition in two seasons.
Katharine Marshall had an 84 in Monday's first round before closing with loops of 79 and 77 to tie for 55th place with a 240 aggregate. That was one shot better than Madison Murnan (81-78-82=241) in 57th place.
Additionally, Karsen Morrison (82-82-79=243) and individual Kayla Maletto (84-78-81=243) tied for 60th place after matching 243's.
Montana State (289-297-288=874) won the team title by a dozen shots over Weber State (301-291-294=886). North Dakota's Mallory Uselman (67-72-76=215) brought home medalist honors with a three-shot win over Weber State's Vienna Scheffer (76-71-71=218).
The tournament featured 11 teams and 68 individuals competing on the Par 72 Riverside Country Club course that measured 6,319 yards.
Creighton is back in action next Monday and Tuesday at the Powercat Classic in Manhattan, Kan.
