Tolbert played for Kingston at South Carolina during the 2018 season, closing out three seasons with the Gamecocks. Tolbert was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 13th round of the 2018 MLB Draft, playing two seasons in the Diamondbacks system. He reached as high as AA, playing 31 games for the Jackson Generals in Tennessee. Tolbert played in 174 games for South Carolina, closing his career with a .282 average. He collected 181 hits and 115 RBI, with 14 HR, 24 doubles and six triples.
