Curtis Self is in his 17th year with Creighton, serving as the athletic trainer for baseball. He is also the insurance coordinator.Â
A certified athletic trainer and has been a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association since 1998, Self is an approved clinical instructor through CAAHEP as well as CPR and AED certified.
Self was an associate athletic trainer at College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C., from 2002-08. While at Charleston, he was the facility coordinator of the Patriots Point Athletic Training room with sport assignments for the baseballÂ
and women’s tennis teams. Prior to his stint at College of Charleston, Self served as an athletic trainer for the Texas Rangers Minor League Baseball Club for two seasons. With the Texas Rangers he was responsibleÂ
for the evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation associated with the rookieÂ
classification Gulf Coast Rangers. Â
Self was a graduate assistant at Western Michigan University where he earned his Master of Arts degree in physical education and recreation with an athletic training emphasis in 2002. He graduated from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in physical education and athletic training in May 2000. While an athletic training student at Coe College, he was also a member of the men’s swim team.
Originally from Grand Island, Neb., Self and his wife, Kristine, reside in Omaha. The couple have two yellow labs, Gunner and Linus.
