- Student Assistant Coach
Christopher Kokotajlo is entering his first season as the Creighton cross country student assistant coach.
Kokotajlo competed for Creighton cross country team for three years and was a captain for two and a half seasons.
“During my time as a student-athlete under Coach Rogers, I have learned a tremendous amount not only about running, but about training, and most importantly, life," said Kokotajlo. "He has become a fantastic mentor. This is why I am coaching. This is one of the many common foundation beliefs that we share. It is not enough to help make fast runners. We, as coaches, have an obligation to help our athletes develop as human beings holistically. As elite athletes, we need to train both our body and our mind to compete with the best in the nation.”
The senior from San Antonio, Texas, desires to move into counseling and sports psychology upon graduation and strives to use his knowledge and skills to apply them to the team.
“My goal in life is to create open-minded, self-aware individuals. To do this, I strive to first form intimate relationships with every member on the team, as it allows me to learn more about them and challenge them to grow as a person. There is opportunity in every conversation to grow, which allows for the athlete and me to mature together. I think this is something that sets our team apart.
“I am honored to be part of this program and will do my best to help coach Rogers and coach Sawle to move this program towards greatness as athletes and people.”
