Toby Millward is in his second season as an assistant coach at Creighton. He assists in coaching the Bluejays offense and helps with scouting and camps, while assisting in the day-to-day operational duties such as team meals and travel.
Creighton finished 8-7-2 a year ago in Millward’s first season with the program, hosting the first round of the BIG EAST Tournament for the first time in program history. Under his guideance, Millward tutored three Second Team All-BIG EAST midfielders in Stella Downing, Azumi Manriki and Ariana Mondiri, as the Bluejay offense netted 21 goals in 2024.Â
Millward came to the Bluejays in July of 2024 after spending the two years on staff at Hastings College, where he helped guide the Broncos to an NAIA National Tournament appearance in 2022 and recently served as the interm head coach in the spring of 2024. Heading up the offensive attack, the Broncos scored an impressive 60 goals and dished out 47 assists while posting a 16-2-2 overall record on the way to a GPAC championship in his first season at Hastings.Â
With his guidance on the sideline, Millward has helped produce two NAIA Honorable Mention All-Americans in David Panter and Kai Knuchel, the 2022 GPAC Offensive Player of the Year in Panter and 12 All-Great Plains Athletic Conference players.Â
Continuing to learn on the pitch, Millward owns a USSF National D Coaching License, as well as PFSA Level 1 Talent Identification, PFSA Level 1 Opposition Analysis and PFSA Level Data Analysis certifications.Â
Prior to beginning his coaching career in 2022, Millward capped off an illustrious five-year playing career at Bellevue where he became the first Bruin in program history to be named an NAIA All-American three-times (2018, 2020, 2021).Â
One of the most decorated players in program history, Millward concluded his career as the all-time leading in assists (35) and the co-leader in points (111), while his 38 career goals are ranked as the third-most in school history. Guiding the Bruins to a 66-27-10 overall record with three NAIA National Tournament appearances, Millward was a five-time all-conference selection (five-time CAC/A.I.I., one North Star Conference) and earned CAC All-Tournament Team recognition four times.Â
Millward earned his bachelor’s degree in health and human performance from Bellevue in 2022, and recently completed his master’s degree in physical education and health from Hastings College in May of 2024.
He resides in Council Bluffs, Iowa with his fiance Hali.Â
