Adding to her day-to-day responsibilities within the Bluejay compliance department (including responding to interpretation requests from coaches and staff, crafting legislative relief waivers and provide continuing education opportunities) she also serves on the Title IX Advisory Committee. Before coming to Creighton, Pontius served as the Assistant Director of Compliance at Miami (OH) from July of 2021 to March of 2023. With the RedHawks she handled initial eligibility, including incoming freshmen as well as transfers as well as season declaration.Â
One of the critical areas of expertise Pontius brought from Miami (OH) to Creighton was experience transitioning to the ARMS system. While at Miami (OH) she led the transition from JumpForward, collaborating with IT department to build bridge between Banner Web and ARMS.
Pontius' professional career began as a Compliance Assistant at Michgin from 2019-20, where she worked closely with the football program. Her specific area for the Wolverines was recruiting.
Her journey in compliance started as an intern at Wisconsin-Milwaukee (2017-19) and as an extern in the NCAA Office of the Committees on Infractions (Summer of 2018).Â
Megan earned her J.D. from Marquette in 2019, also collecting a Sports Law Certificate from the National Sports Law Institute. She earned her undergraduate degree (B.S. in Economics and Marketing) from Baker University in 2016. Pontius is a licensed attorney in the state of Wisconsin.
