BOWLING GREEN,
The Bluejays, coming off their highest scoring match in nearly two years, were shut out for the third time this season in suffering their first Missouri Valley Conference loss of the year.
Dustin Downey's third goal of the year in the 72nd minute proved to be the difference as the Bluejays could not convert any of their 13 shot opportunities.
CU out-shot WKU 13-8, including a 6-5 edge in shots on goal. WKU goalkeeper Kyle Schroeder turned away five CU shots, while the Hilltopper defense chipped in with a team save. CU's Matt Allen made four stops in the 1-0 loss.
The Jays unloaded 11 of their 13 shots in the second half, when they also attempted all eight of their corner kicks (holding an 8-3 advantage from the corner).
The loss snapped CU's four-game winning streak and ended CU's perfect run in conference action. The defeat also ended the Bluejays' nine-match winning streak against the Hilltoppers. CU had out-scored WKU 20-5 in the nine previous meetings, all Bluejay victories.
Creighton will look to return to the win column when it plays at Drake Wednesday night. The Jays and Bulldogs will kick off at 7 p.m. in
