
Volleyball Earns Four-Game Win at Iowa State

AMES, Iowa ? Lauren Bloemke had a career-best 18 kills off the bench and served
an 11-0 run in game three to lead Creighton (3-1) past host Iowa State (0-2) in
volleyball action from Ames, Iowa on Tuesday night. Scores of the victory were
30-24, 27-30, 30-18, 30-21.
A sophomore
from
Creighton
railed 14-13 in game three before unleashing an 11-0 run to take control of the
match. The run included three aces from Bloemke four blocks that Jessica Houts was a part of.The Jays would win game three 30-18 on Sarah Schulze kill. ISU hit -.160 in
game three and had trouble defensively as CU collected five aces in the third
set.
The Jays
broke free from a 15-15 deadlock in game four with a 6-0 run with Korie Lebeda at the service line. CU
would close the match with a 15-6 run to close out the victory with a 30-21
win.
Bloemke
eclipsed her previous high of 10 kills by eight, hitting .324. After entering
the match with three career aces, she had three aces in the game three victory
alone. Allie Oelke's 13 kills and
nine digs were both career-highs, while Houts finished her first double-double
with 14 digs and 10 blocks. CU hit .218 and had 59 kills, 10 aces, 54 digs and
15 blocks.
ISU was
paced by honorable-mention All-American Erin Boeve, who had 14 kills and 11
digs but seemed to tire late and finished with 10 errors. The Cyclones had 46
kills, two aces, 54 digs and 13 blocks while hitting .098.
Creighton
returns to action on Friday with a match in
