Arkansas Tops Softball 10-1

TEMPE, Ariz. ? Arkansas smashed four home runs en route to a 10-1 victory over the Creighton softball team Saturday afternoon at the Wilson/DeMarini Invitational hosted by Arizona State.

The Lady'Backs (18-2) continued their hottest start in school history with their second win over the Bluejays (10-5) in a week. Arkansas went up 2-0 after two innings, using pair of doubles in the first and a solo home run in the second.

Arkansas tacked on another run with a solo blast in the fifth to go up 3-0 and then scored two more in the sixth to lead by five. Arkansas exploded for five runs in the seventh inning, highlighted by a three-run blast.

Creighton scored its only run of the game on an RBI ground out by Lau Emmsley-Chang in the bottom of the seventh. The junior drove in Renae Sinkler who led off the inning with a double. Sinkler went 3-for-3 to account for half of CU's hits in the loss.

Miranda Dixon (6-1) hurled a complete game for Arkansas.

CU freshman Emily Humpal dropped to 2-1 in defeat. The rookie also tossed a complete game, allowing 12 hits and 10 earned runs, while walking two and striking out three.
