No. 7 Arizona Hammers Softball, 15-1
3/7/2008 10:30:00 PM | Softball
The Wildcats (14-4) smacked five hits and scored seven times in the first inning off of Bluejay starter and
CU freshman Emily Humpal hurled the final six outs for the Jays, relieving Hess in the third inning.
The Bluejays were limited to just one hit in the game, a fifth-inning leadoff triple by Michelle Graner. Graner would score the only CU run of the game on a passed ball.
Hess (3-3) walked four, allowed eight hits and 11 runs in two-plus innings of work, while Humpal struck out two, allowed six hits and four runs in her two innings of relief.
The Bluejays had not allowed 15 runs in a game since losing 16-4 to UCLA on March 6, 1999.
CU will look to snap its four-game losing streak when it has a rematch with La Salle Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. (CST) and then faces No. 7 Arizona at 7 p.m. (CST) to close out its Spring Break trip.
