OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton head coach Krista Wood announced the newest addition to her coaching staff on Monday morning, adding Cylie Halvorson as an assistant coach.
"I am excited to welcome Cylie to our coaching staff here at Creighton," said Wood. "She brings a strong knowledge of the game, a passion for player development and a positive energy that will be a great addition to our softball program. I know our players will benefit from her knowledge, leadership and positive influence both on and off the field."
Halvorson joins the Bluejays coaching staff after a two-year stint at Ole Miss, where she served as a graduate manager in 2025 before becoming the assistant director of player development in 2026. While with the Rebels, Halvorson was highly involved in player development, opponent scouting and game strategy, as well as in-game defensive alignments. In addition, Halvorson also assisted with analytics tracking and the overall day-to-day operations of the softball team.
"I first want to thank Coach Wood for this incredible opportunity," stated Halvorson. "Having the chance to coach alongside her makes this a true full-circle moment in my coaching journey, and I couldn't be more grateful. I'm excited to work with Coach Wood, Coach Furnal, and Coach Colomb and be part of such an outstanding staff."
In her two seasons in Oxford, Halvorson helped guide the Rebels to 78 wins, two NCAA Tournament appearances, the 2025 Fayetteville Super Regional championship and the program to its first Women's College World Series appearance in school history.
Halvorson was part of Ole Miss' 2025 ATEC/NFCA South Region Coaching Staff of the Year, in which she helped the Rebels set single season program records in runs, hits, doubles, home runs, RBI, total bases, saves and strikeouts. She also played a key role in the development of Jaden Pone, who won the SEC batting title (.427 in conference play) and earned SEC All-Defensive Team and All-SEC First Team honors.
"I'm incredibly excited to join the Creighton Softball family and return to the Midwest," added Halvorson. "Creighton has built a tradition of excellence, and I look forward to building meaningful relationships with our student-athletes, staff, and the entire university community. I can't wait to get to work, contribute to the continued success of Creighton Softball, and help make a positive impact on our student-athletes both on and off the field."
Prior to her time at Ole Miss, Halvorson played two seasons at South Dakota State under coach Wood before transferring to Arkansas for her final two years. A standout infielder, Halvorson was a four-time All-Conference selection (First Team All-Summit League (twice) and Second Team All-SEC (twice), a three-time NFCA First Team All-Region honoree and the 2021 Summit League Player of the Year. Over the course of her four-year career, Halvorson hit .320 and slugged .630 with 233 hits, 43 doubles, 59 home runs and 207 RBI while starting 240 of the 241 games she played.
Halvorson, a native of Sioux Falls, S.D., earned her bachelor's degree in business from Arkansas in 2024 before receiving her master's degree in sport management from Ole Miss this past spring.
Creighton finished last season with a 32-27 overall record, posting its first back-to-back-to-back 30-win seasons since 2008-10, while reaching its third consecutive trip to the BIG EAST Tournament Finals.
