Vicente Cafaro answered in the bottom of the second on a leadoff homer to right, cutting the lead to 2-1. Jimmy Swift followed with a walk and went to second on T.J. Roemmich's ground ball to the right side, before advancing to third on a pass ball. Swift tied the game at two when Scott Thornburg hit a ground ball RBI to third.
In the top of the fourth a single and a walk put runners on the corners for the Bears with one out. Fortunately for the Bluejays, Tyler Ryun grounded into a 5-4-3 double play, ending the threat.
In the bottom of the seventh Roemmich doubled down the left field line to lead off the inning. Thornburg then laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Roemmich over to third with just one out. Nick Becker then hit his first career home run, a two-run shot to right, making it 4-2 Creighton.
MSU's Brayden Drake hit a solo shot to right center in the top of the eighth, cutting the lead to just 4-3.
Tyler Ryun then hit a home run in the top of the ninth, tying the game at 4-4. Runners then reached first and second with just one out. Drake then delivered a two-out double to right-center, making it 6-4.
In the bottom of the ninth Roemmich and Swift were on first and third with no outs, courtesy of two passed balls. Vitale hit a ball into the hole at short that no one could get an out on, allowing Swift to score. Becker was then hit by a pitch to load the bases. Unfortunately that is as far as the rally would get, as Robbie Knight and Elliot Soto each grounded out to end the game at 6-5.
Jeremy Hauer threw a career-high 8.0 innings allowing three runs, just one of which was earned. He allowed six hits and struck out five while walking three.
