
Women?s Tennis Trio Competes at ITA Central Regional Championships

STILLWATER, Okla. – Three members of the Creighton women's tennis team continued the fall schedule at the ITA Central Regional Championships this weekend hosted by Oklahoma State University.
CU sophomore Katherine Nelsen and freshman Darby Rosette each posted a first-round win in the qualifying singles draw. Nelsen rolled over UNO's Kenzie Hill 6-1, 6-0 while Rosette toppled Linda Mouhoub from UMKC 6-3, 7-5. The Bluejays later dropped their second-round matches.
In the singles main draw, Creighton senior Jennie Hartjes fell 6-2, 6-3 to No. 9-16 seed Abbi Melrose of Oklahoma in the opening round.
Hartjes and Nelsen later suffered an 8-5 setback to a team from Saint Louis in the first round of the doubles main draw.
Nineteen teams hailing from the states of Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and South Dakota competed this weekend.
Creighton returns to action for its dual meet regular-season schedule in the spring.
