
Bluejays' Women's Soccer Battles Seton Hall to a 1-1 Tie

OMAHA, Neb. - The Creighton women's soccer squad battled Seton Hall to a 1-1 tie on Sunday, Oct. 5. Ironically both goals came via penalty kicks just under four minutes apart.
The Bluejays moved to 9-3-1 overall and 1-2-1 in BIG EAST action, while Seton Hall is 3-7-3 on the season and 0-3-1 in conference play.
Seton Hall got on the board first as Creighton's Madelyn Buckner was called for a handball in the box, giving the Pirates a penalty kick just into the 54th minute (53:03). Amanda Gulli converted the PK, lifting her shot to the right past Creighton keeper, Danielle Rice.
Creighton responded in the 58th minute (57:01) as the Pirates blocked a shot by junior Alyssa Jara with one of their hand. Sophomore Ylenia Sachau blasted the Bluejays chance past Illissa Blackshear to knot the game at 1-1.
The Bluejays held a 4-3 shot edge in the first half, but dominated possession over the final 65 minutes of play. Creighton closed the game with a 21-11 edge on shots and created eight corners to just one for Seton Hall.
Creighton returns to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 11 as the Bluejays face off with DePaul at 3 p.m.
