OMAHA, Neb. - The Creighton women's basketball team looks to replicate its success from 2012 as the Bluejays host #12 Nebraska on Thursday, Dec. 11. The game will be televised nationally on Fox Sports 1.

Creighton vs. Nebraska:
Creighton and Nebraska have met 39 times, with the Huskers getting the best of the exchange thus far, 28-11. Creighton earned a 66-57 win two years ago in Omaha, but fell 63-38 in Lincoln last season.
Creighton is 10-7 all time against the Huskers at home, including 3-3 under Flanerys in Omaha.

Always a disciplined and well coached team, Nebraska posted a 60-54 win over #9 Duke on Dec. 3, but dropped its first game of the season at Alabama on Dec. 7, 53-51.
Junior Rachel Therior and senior Emily Cady have been asked to shoulder a larger role on the offensive end with the departure of All-American Jordan Hooper.
Nebraska has gotten a boost from their three-point shooting this season as the Huskers have made 48 treys (6.0 per game). Theriot and Tear'a Laudermill have 29 combined. Theriot has been deadly from long range, shooting 55.6% (10-of-18).
Keys to the Game w/Nebraska:
- Getting off to a Strong Start: The Bluejays cannot play expect to rally from a double-digit deficit against the Huskers as Creighton did against Northern Iowa. The Bluejays need an early lift in both the first and second halves.
- Control Sample and Cady: In Creighton's win over the Huskers in 2012, Sample had a season-high 20 points. Last season the duo of Cady and Sample combined for 27 points.
- Limit extra possessions: Creighton must attack the glass and take care of the ball to limit extra opportunities for Nebraska.
- Janning Named to Naismith Trophy Women's 50 Watch List
Junior Marissa Janning was one of three BIG EAST Conference guards named to the Naismith Trophy Women's 50 Watch List. Joinng Janning were DePaul senior Brittany Hrynko and St. John's junior Aliyyah Handford.
The Naismith Watch List is chosen by Atlanta Tipoff Club's Board of Selectors, the award recognizes the nation's top college basketball player.
Each year, the Atlanta Tipoff Club's Board of Selectors chooses the 50 pre-season “Naismith Watch” list as well as the mid-season team of 30 candidates (Feb. 11). The Naismith voting academy narrows that group down to four finalists (March 20) who will make up the final ballot. The voting academy, comprised of leading basketball journalists, coaches and administrators from around the country, base its criteria on player performance throughout the season.
Lamberty Fifth in the Nation in Assist-to-Turnover Ratio
Freshman Sydney Lamberty is making the transition to Division I basketball look easy. The Minnesota native is tied for fifth in the nation with a 4.33 assist-to-turnover ratio. She has 26 assists and just six turnovers this season.
Lamberty is the only freshman in the top-10 and one of just two in the top-25.
Sign of Things to Come
Trailing 36-20 at halftime against Northern Iowa (Dec. 8), Jim Flanery called upon his captains to lead the team back. While Alexis Akin-Otiko and Marissa Janning contributed down the stretch, it was freshmen Sydney Lamberty and Jade Owens that reacted first. Lamberty and Owens scored a combined 20 points in the final 20 minutes to lift the Bluejays to the 58-56 win.
Double-Double
Lamberty record Creighton's second double-double in as many games, finishing with 14 points and 11 rebounds against Northern Iowa (Dec. 8). It was her first double-double and the first by a Creighton freshman since Brianna Rollerson grabbed 13 points and 10 rebounds against Butler (March 4, 2014).
Rollerson notched two double-doubles last season as a redshirt freshman. The last true freshman to record a double-double as Sarah Nelson against North Carolina State on Nov. 13, 2010.
