12/3/2014 12:06:00 AM | Women's Basketball
OMAHA, Neb. - The Creighton women's basketball team hosts Seton Hall in the BIG EAST Conference season opener on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 7:01 p.m. The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1.
Seton Hall Head Coach: Anthony Bozzella, Second Season (Seton Hall, 1989)
Scouting Seton Hall (5-1)
The Pirates have had an impressive start to the 2014-15 season with victories, including victories of Saint Joseph's, Saint Peters, Rider, Kennesaw State and at Penn State. Seton Hall's only loss of the year was a closely contested battle with the 17th ranked West Virginia Mountaineers (89-87) on Nov. 17.
Seton Hall has a strong starting group with four players averaging double figures Ka-Deidre Simmons (18.8 ppg), Tabatha Richardson-Smith (18.3 ppg), Daisha Simmons (16.3 ppg) and Bra'Shey Ali (10.3 ppg). The Pirates weakness, however, may be that their bench combines to average under 10 points per game.
Forcing 127 turnovers (21.2 per game) the Pirates like to speed up the game for their opponents by applying pressure.
Keys to the Game w/Seton Hall:
After watching Butler end a two-year home conference win streak in the final game of the 2013-14 season, the Bluejays will look to begin anew against the Pirates.

Keys to the Game w/Seton Hall:
- Ball Security: Creighton has done a very good job taking care of the ball this season (12.0 turnovers per game keeps the Bluejays in the top-25 of the NCAA), however this skill will be tested by the Pirates. The Bluejays cannot allow Seton Hall additional possessions with poor ball handling.
- Executing in the paint: While Seton Hall does not have the fire power that #14 Cal and #1 Connecticut featured, the Bluejays must be more competitive in the paint.
- Multiple contributions: Marissa Janning has been a consistent threat for the Bluejays during the first six game, but Creighton must get help from the entire bench to be successful in the BIG EAST.
After watching Butler end a two-year home conference win streak in the final game of the 2013-14 season, the Bluejays will look to begin anew against the Pirates.
Coaching with Passion
Both Seton Hall and Creighton have former graduates leading their respective teams into battle on Wednesday as the Pirates Anthony Bozzella graduated from Seton Hall in 1989. Creighton's Jim Flanery, meanwhile, was a Bluejay graduate in 1987.
