Jara Posts Two Goals in Women's Soccer 6-0 Rout of New Mexico State

OMAHA, Neb. - Junior Alyssa Jara delivered two goals and an assist as the Creighton women's soccer team romped past New Mexico State 6-0 on Friday, Sept. 5.
The win pushed the Bluejays to 4-0-0 on the season, while New Mexico State fell to 1-5-0.
Creighton's 4-0-0 start matches the start the Bluejays got off to in 2008, the best start in school histoy is 5-0-0 in 1993.
Jara got the Bluejays off to a fast start with her second goal of the season in the seventh minute as junior Kirstyn Corder center a ball into the box for Jara. The California native struck the pass in the center of the box into the right corner of the net to make it 1-0 (6:38).
The second goal took some time but Jara delivered once more in the 36th minute as junior Alissa Kohmetscher found in the middle again. Jara connected from 24 yards away this time, striking the back of the net for her first multi-goal game of her Creighton career.
Jara was inches away from notching a hat trick as the game entered the 40th minute when her shot bounced back off the post, but Corder was there to clean up by punching in Creighton's third goal of the opening period. Jara was credited with the assist on the play.
After halftime Creighton tacked on three more goals as senior Addison Nokels punched in a goal from sophomore Emily Roll in the 48th minute, senior Stephanie Anasi tallied her first goal of the year off a pass from junior Jill Richgels and sophomore Ylenia Sachau scored via a ball from freshman Jessica Mutters.
Creighton closed the game with a 20-6 edge on shots taken, while the Bluejays earned 10 corners to just two for the Aggies.
Creighton returns to the pitch on Sunday, Sept. 5 as the Bluejays face off with Drake at 3:30 p.m.
