Women's Soccer Falls to DePaul, 4-0

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton women's soccer squad suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of the defending BIG EAST champion DePaul Blue Demons on Thursday, Oct. 1 at Morrison Stadium in Omaha.
The loss dropped the Bluejays to 8-5-0 overall and 0-2-0 in BIG EAST action, while DePaul moved to 8-2-2 overall and 2-0-0 in conference play. The Blue Demons stretched their unbeaten streak in BIG EAST play to 11 games with the 4-0 win.
A late first half goal (38') gave DePaul the avdantage as Franny Cerny knocked home a goal from eight yards away with a crossing shot that moved from right to left. Cerny was set up for the goal on two one-touch passes from Madeline Frick and Alexa Ben that threaded through the Creighton defense.
The Bluejays were held without a shot in the first half as DePaul took a 8-0 edge into the break.
In the second period the Blue Demons got goals by Abby Reed (59'), Elise Wyatt (81') and Taylor Schissler (87') to put the match away, while Alexa Ben nabbed her second assist on the Blue Demons second score of the match.
Erin Scott made nine saves for Creighton, while DePaul keeper Alejandria Godinez earned her sixth shutout of the season without having to make a save. DePaul outshot Creighton 19-9 for the night.
Creighton returns to the pitch on Sunday at 1 pm when it hosts Villanova (1-10-0, 0-2-0).
