Cincinnati, Ohio - The Creighton women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss at Xavier on Sunday, Oct. 25.
The loss dropped the Bluejays to 10-9-0 on the season and 2-6-0 in BIG EAST action. Xavier, meanwhile, moved to 8-8-1 overall and 3-5-0 in conference play.
Playing on its senior day, the Musketeers used the emotion to capitalize on with three goals on just eight shots. Xavier got the lone goal of the opening period in the 26th minute as Kenadie Carlson sent a pass from Samantha Dewey into the net.
The Bluejays best chance to pull even in the second half came in the 30th minute. Senior Alyssa Jara sent a shot from 20 yards away with a nice bend, but her shot struck the outside of the right post and bounced away.
Down 1-0 at the break, Xavier connected on two of its only three shots of the second period for goals in the 51st and 54th minutes. Skylar Groth scored the second goal of the game, while Samantha Dewey got the final tally.
Creighton outshot Xavier, 20-8 in the match. The Bluejays also held the edge on corners, earning a 4-0 advantage.
Creighton will wrap up the 2015 season at Georgetown on Friday, Oct. 30 at 2:00 pm.
